It was June 2023, during my residency in Basel, Switzerland, that I started sending wooden postcard - ‘The Drifting Wood’ embarks the journey as postcards, allowing them to share the artist's reflections on the city with recipients and postal workers. Sending postcards is not a new concept; it serves as both a nostalgic nod to past communication methods and a reminder of how we transmit messages in today's digital age.
‘Messengers from the wild’ , a commissioned work by Jameel Art Center in Dubai, 2024, are composed of eights postcards which the artist sent to herself, murmuring the fragments of ‘home’, while the segments of landscapes and scenes finally assemble into a new territory provided by a wild boar - an oneness of the wild and our home. To the artist, wild boar are the stakeholders of her home city, the and they always represent the wild spirit of liberty, fertility and bravery under oppression in her paintings.
